Description
Low Carbon Ferrochrome is a ferroalloy containing approximately 60–70% chromium and less than 0.1% carbon. In addition to these two elements, it contains small amounts of other elements such as sulfur, silicon, and phosphorus. This ferroalloy is gray in color and is typically used in lump form with a particle size ranging from 10 to 60 mm. Due to its ability to enhance unique mechanical properties, Low Carbon Ferrochrome is one of the most widely used alloying elements in the steel industry.
Features of low-carbon ferrochrome:
- Increased ductility and toughness of manufactured parts due to low carbon percentage
- Increased corrosion resistance due to the presence of chromium and low carbon percentage
- Increased wear resistance
- Increased hardness and strength of steel parts at high temperatures
- Increased weldability
Low-carbon ferrochrome applications:
- Production of stainless steel parts
- Production of superalloys
- Mining machinery tools and parts, including the manufacture of excavators, crusher jaws
