Ferroniobium

Ferroniobium

Ferroalloy based on ferroniobium and iron, usually containing 60-70% niobium, and in the steelmaking industry, it is used as an alloying and nucleating element and a factor in increasing the strength of cast steels.

Advantages and applications of ferroniobium :

  • Resistant to corrosion and oxidation
  • Resistant to high temperatures
  • Resistant to creep and reduced wear at high temperatures

And more. .

Additional information

Description

Ferroniobium consists of niobium and iron, along with small amounts of aluminum, silicon, carbon, and phosphorus, and typically containing 60-70% niobium. It is silver-gray in color and generally appears in lump form with a particle size of 10–60 mm. This ferroalloy is widely used in the production of high-strength low-alloy steels (HSLA) that require high stress tolerance.

Ferroniobium applications:

  • As an alloying and nucleating element in casting steel and cast iron parts
  • Significantly increased resistance to corrosion and oxidation
  • Improved weldability
  • Resistance to high temperatures
  • Increased strength, toughness and ductility of steel parts
  • Increased wear resistance in steel and cast iron parts
  • Production of stainless steels, advanced steels and superalloys
  • Production of jet engine turbine blades
  • Construction of the bodies of some vehicles
  • Construction of gas pipes, oil pipes and the production of various tools
