Description
Ferrotungsten is a ferroalloy containing 75-78% tungsten, which is used in various industries due to its high melting point of about 1650-2100 ° C. This ferroalloy is available in silver-gray in the form of lumps with a grain size of 10-60 mm and is used in the manufacture of alloy steels that must contain 15-20% tungsten. Due to the presence of the element tungsten in it, this ferroalloy is mainly used to produce hard materials based on tungsten carbide. Tungsten carbide (WC) formed with a melting point of 3770 ° C, due to the presence of tungsten in this ferroalloy, is one of the hardest carbides known.
Applications of Ferrotungstentungsten:
- Production of alloy steels, tools and sharp tools containing about 18% tungsten
- Production of missile, submarine or ballistic missile nozzles
- Used in the military industry to produce military equipment including shields, bullets, grenades
- Used to make superalloys including turbine blades, heat storage tanks and high wear resistant coatings
- Used in the manufacture of a special type of welding electrodes
- Increases tensile strength and hardness at very high temperatures
- Increases corrosion resistance
- Increases electrical conductivity
