Description
Stransiom inoculant (Supersid) is one of the types of inoculant used in the casting industry, containing amounts of Stransiom, silicon, and small quantities of calcium and aluminum. This inoculant is available in two sizes: fine (0.2 – 0.7 mm) and coarse (2 – 6 mm). One of the primary applications of Stransiom inoculant is in the production of ductile iron parts, as the addition of Supersid to the molten iron leads to increased graphite nucleation, spheroidization of the graphite, and the elimination of carbides. This results in improved machinability of cast iron parts.
Applications of Stransiom inoculant(Supersid):
- Nucleation in cast irons
- Improvement in the number of graphite nodules
- Cost-effectiveness
