Description
Ferro-titanium contains 70-75% titanium along with other elements, which are among the ferroalloys used in the steelmaking industry. This ferroalloy has a silvery-gray color and is usually used in the form of lumps with a grain size of 10-60 mm. Ferro-titanium is stable under natural conditions, but reacts violently when exposed to water or acidic and oxidizing environments. Today, in the steelmaking industry, ferrotitanium is mentioned as a factor for reducing grain size and subsequently increasing hardness in steel parts through carbidization of the titanium contained there in.
Applications and properties of ferrotitanium:
- Improving hardness and strength
- Deoxygenation, desulfurization, denitrification and generally reducing molten impurities
- Improving corrosion resistance
- Improving weldability
- Production of superalloys, alloy steels, stainless steels and heat-resistant steels
- Manufacturing of welding electrodes
- Automotive, military, aircraft and shipbuilding industries
