Description
Barinouc inoculant contains elements such as Barium, Silicon, Aluminum, Calcium, and Sulfur. It is among the most commonly used inoculants in the steel and cast iron casting industries—particularly for improving the quality of ductile and gray iron castings.
This inoculant is added at the final stage of melting, just before pouring the molten metal into the mold. Upon addition, it helps refine the grain structure by controlling the rapid solidification process and increasing the number of solidification points. This grain refinement helps prevent common casting defects such as cracks and surface porosities in the final metal parts.
Applications of Barinouc inoculant:
- Enhances the inoculation ability in cast irons and increases the number of graphite nodules
- desulfurizing and deoxidizing agent due to the presence of active elements
- Prevents the formation of iron carbides in cast iron parts
- Reduces the solidification rate
- Increases hardness, strength, and toughness
