Description
High Carbon Ferrochrome is a type of ferroalloy with a higher carbon content compared to Low Carbon Ferrochrome. This alloy is primarily used for specific applications in the steelmaking industry. Typically, High Carbon Ferrochrome contains about 6–8% carbon and 60–70% chromium. Like Low Carbon Ferrochrome, it also contains small amounts of other elements such as sulfur, silicon, and phosphorus, in addition to chromium and carbon.
It is important to note that due to the high carbon content, the possibility of cracking during thermal or welding processes increases. On the other hand, a high carbon content can lead to the formation of large amounts of carbide in castings, which may reduce the surface quality of the final products.
Properties of high-carbon ferrochrome:
- Increases hardness and wear resistance of steel and cast iron parts
- Increases heat resistance
Applications of High Carbon Ferrochrome:
- Production of steel, cast iron and alloy parts with high carbon content
- Production of stainless steel
- Production of jaw crushers
Chemical Composition of High Carbon Ferrochrome:
