Low sulfur graphite, a refined petroleum coke product, is commonly known as GPC (graphitic petroleum coke). It is composed of a higher percentage of carbon and a lower percentage of sulfur than high sulfur graphite. Low-sulfur graphite is used in the foundry industry to increase carbon in alloy steel and cast iron parts, and it can be noted that one of the most important uses of its use is the production of ductile (nodular cast iron). By increasing the nucleation power of graphite, this material leads to the formation of a uniform structure in cast iron, which can lead to the production of high-quality cast iron parts with significant strength and flexibility.
